The first meeting of the agricultural ministers of the Organization of Turkish States is being held in Tashkent, the Uzbek capital. The meeting, which was chaired by Uzbek Minister of Agriculture Jamshid Khojayev, and Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkish States, Baghdad Amreev, was attended by agriculture ministers from member states and observers.
AZERTAC informed in the Department of Public Relations and Information Support at the Ministry of Agriculture that the purpose of the ministerial meeting is to expand cooperation in the field of agriculture among the participating countries, increase trade, and discuss possibilities for implementing projects of common interest.
Speaking at the event, Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan Inam Karimov said that Azerbaijan is making great efforts to achieve sustainable transformation of the agri-food system: “Green energy, digitalization and innovative solutions are the main principles of our activities towards creating a sustainable homeland. At the end of the event, the Final Communiqué of the First Meeting of the Ministers of Agriculture of the Organization of Turkish States was adopted.
Within the framework of the meeting, a bilateral meeting was held between the Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan Inam Karimov and the Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khojayev. The meeting discussed the implementation of the instructions on strengthening cooperation laid down by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev during his last official visit to Uzbekistan, as well as areas requiring further cooperation.
At the end of the meeting between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, a roadmap for cooperation in the field of agriculture was signed. The document provides for the exchange of experiences between the two countries in the field of the agricultural insurance system, the digitization of agriculture, the mechanisms of state support for agriculture, the establishment of a joint project in the field of sericulture and other issues.
Within the framework of the meeting, the Azerbaijani Minister of Agriculture held bilateral meetings with the Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkish States, Baghdad Amiryev, the Minister of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan Askarbek Dzhanbekov, and the Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, Yerbul Karachukiyev.
